Itinerary
Your journey begins with a scenic drive from Haridwar to Barkot, covering a distance of 205 kilometers in about 6 hours. Along the way, you’ll pass through the beautiful hill station of Mussoorie, where you can take in the views of the majestic Himalayas. Upon arrival in Barkot, check into your hotel and enjoy the evening free for relaxation and acclimatization to the altitude. This will help you prepare for the spiritual journey ahead. Stay overnight at Barkot.
Early in the morning, you will head towards Jankichatti, where you will begin your 5 km trek to the Yamunotri Temple. Yamunotri is one of the most revered sites in the Char Dham Yatra, being the origin of the Yamuna River. After your darshan at the temple, you can also visit the nearby hot springs. The trek back to Jankichatti and the return drive to Barkot will complete your day. You will spend the night at Barkot.
Early in the morning, you will head towards Jankichatti, where you will begin your 5 km trek to the Yamunotri Temple. Yamunotri is one of the most revered sites in the Char Dham Yatra, being the origin of the Yamuna River. After your darshan at the temple, you can also visit the nearby hot springs. The trek back to Jankichatti and the return drive to Barkot will complete your day. You will spend the night at Barkot.
The next morning, you will leave early for Gangotri, one of the four sacred shrines of the Char Dham. The drive is about 100 kilometers, and upon arrival, you can take a holy dip in the sacred Ganga River. The Gangotri Temple is dedicated to Goddess Ganga, and here, you can offer your prayers and bask in the tranquility of the surroundings. After the darshan, you will drive back to Uttarkashi for the night’s stay.
On Day 5, get ready for a long yet scenic journey to Guptkashi. This 223-kilometer drive takes you through beautiful valleys and past the famous Tehri Dam. It will take approximately 9–10 hours, but the landscape along the way makes the journey pleasant. Once you reach Guptkashi, check in to your hotel, and in the evening, you can visit the local Vishwanath Temple. Spend the night in Guptkashi.
On this day, you will drive from Guptkashi to Gaurikund, the starting point for the trek to Kedarnath. The 17-kilometer trek to Kedarnath is one of the highlights of the Char Dham Yatra, offering beautiful views of the snow-capped mountains and lush green valleys. Upon reaching Kedarnath, you will attend the evening Aarti at the Kedarnath Temple, a spiritually elevating experience. Spend the night at Kedarnath.
The next morning, after breakfast, you will begin your return trek from Kedarnath to Gaurikund. The trek is equally scenic as you descend back. After reaching Gaurikund, you will be driven back to Guptkashi for an overnight stay. You can relax and recuperate after the long trek.
On Day 8, you will start your day with a long drive to Badrinath, covering a distance of 190 kilometers. This will take about 9 hours, but the breathtaking views of the Himalayas make the journey enjoyable. Upon arrival at Badrinath, check in to your hotel, and then head out to explore the local sights, including Mana Village, which is known as the last village on the Indian side of the border. You will also have the opportunity to attend the evening Aarti at the Badrinath Temple. Overnight stay at Badrinath.
Start the day early with a visit to Taptkund, where you can take a ritual bath in the hot spring. Afterward, head to the Badrinath Temple for darshan. Then, embark on a journey to Srinagar, which is 190 kilometers away and will take approximately 8 hours. Upon reaching Srinagar, check into your hotel for an overnight stay.
On the final day, after breakfast, you will drive back to Haridwar, a 140-kilometer journey that will take around 4 hours. Your spiritual journey ends here, with a heart full of blessings and cherished memories of the divine experiences you had throughout the trip.
